What do Occupational Therapists do?

The occupational therapist will work with you to increase your level of independence and/or safety in day to day activities for example washing and dressing or meal preparation.

They will talk to you about what you find difficult and what you want to achieve.

They will work out a programme that will improve your skills.

They may suggest different types of equipment that could help you.

They will advise you how you can adapt your home to make activities easier for example in the bathroom and kitchen.

The cost of equipment and adaptations are not covered by the Occupational Therapy service.

If you require long term equipment and/or adaptation you would need to fund yourself unless you are on supplementary benefit and Social Security can assist here. Please contact them on (01481) 723500.

You can refer yourself and the Occupational Therapists are available from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:00. They can be contacted on (01481) 725241 ext. 4085.
